1st Housewarming Party @ May-2nd

We had our very first housewarming party earlier this month. It was almost an impromptu party, as we only decided to have a party a week after C&Y's wedding, so that the couple could join in the fun before they flew off.

It was most fortunate that most of our friends still managed to come on that day. N & I had just brought back Kiko the previous day, we were busy attending to Kiko and still had to clean up the house for the party. Both of us were excited with the new pup and also hosting our very first party at home!

We came back from groceries shopping just in time to greet the first batch of visitors. I had pondered many times over the menu for the night, should I cook, steamboat or get some fast food. I knew I couldn't cook for a big crowd, and I don't have a steamboat pot, the dining table can't fit a crowd for sit down dinner... so the best option is to have a finger food ala Pizza Hut's pizzas and roasted chickens from Ayamas, plus some fried nuggets and cocktail sausages, salads and fruits.

The gals popped in early to help me out with the preparations. Thanks to MC, MY and Y who helped me with the cocktail sticks and salad for the night! And also thanks to my dear friends for all the generous housewarming gifts.

We enjoyed ourselves very much watching the wedding photos and videos of C&Y and N&myself, flipping wedding albums, and catching up with each other.

I was glad the party went well. Here are some photos taken courtesy of MY.

Konnyaku Jellies for Mich's dinner gathering

Last Saturday, I was busy preparing some konnyaku jellies again for the little dinner gathering at Mich's place. This time around, I remembered to snap some pictures while I was at it.

I couldn't get the usual brand from the Giant supermarket I went to. So I resorted to this brand. It costs around RM2.19 per packet.

And I got this small bucket of Nata De Coco too (about RM5.49).

Then I prepared the jelly moulds (containers). I had asked lil sis's help to put in the nata de coco cubes into the moulds while I boiled the jelly mix.

Pretty easy, I just followed the instructions on the jelly packet. I had cooked 2 packets of jelly powder. I mixed the jelly powder with sugar (I had used 4 tbsp, but it wasn't sweet enough, I supposed 6 tbsp would be better). Then slowly poured the mixture into cool water (about 1.6 litre, supposed to be 2 litre, but it seems too diluted so I changed the portion). After that, I bring the mixture to boil, slowly stirring it while it simmers.

When it seems that all powder has diluted in the water and mixed well, I turned off the heat. Then using a ceramic soup spoon, I spooned the mixture into the moulds (with the nata de coco already put in). Stir the mixture whenever appropriate to make it easier to spoon it out. The mixture is abit glue-y.

Then leave them to cool. You can popped out the jellies from the mould after about 45 mins. Chilled them in the fridge before serving.

And oh, for those who missed the dinner gathering...we enjoyed ourselves with Mich's spaghetti and grilled chicken wings, red wine and pizzas. And we had good laugh watching her wedding video together. No pictures, sorry :P

Thank You My Dear Friends

I think this was the best ever birthday surprise for me. All thanks to N and my bunch of friends. Yeah, and now N call them his new "partners in crime". *roll eyes*

I must say it was a good act by all, you guys totally fooled me! I was so unsuspecting of any surprises, because I was expecting to meet up with N's friends rather than my own friends. My first reaction when I saw C & M sitting in the restaurant, was perhaps it was just coincidence. But then I look further, I saw more familiar faces...I started thinking to myself...what?? you guys meet up without even asking me?!

Then again, I didn't see any of N's friends, only then did it strike me that this was a planned surprise for me after all. Gosh, I'm so touched that my dear friends have all gathered to celebrate my birthday. Yeah, I guess you could also say my surprise look was priceless. Sheesh....so paiseh leh..

Ok, to stop myself before I go on rattling nonsense, I just want to say BIG THANKS to everyone who came, you know who you are...And also those who couldn't come but sent me their best wishes & thoughts..

C&M - thanks for calling the rest to come, buying the cake, and taking photos, and your gifts!
LY, MY, SL, CL - thanks for the lovely accessories set. *special thanks to CL who chauffeured the girls home that night.
C&Y - thanks for the bodyshop gift, I'll make sure I smell nice like a rose!

Oh, of course not forgetting to thank the "grand master" behind this plan too :P

*photos to be posted up later ya...

Kah Keong's Wedding @ 12/2/2007

Another wedding dinner attended last weekend. KK is my secondary school & college mate. Good to see he's finally married to a fine lady. This was a little gathering for us, as I met some of our ex-schoolmates who I've not seen for ages! (since I completed my Form 5, phew!). Oh, please forgive me, these photos are not really excellent quality as these were taken using my new phone with 2MP only. Oh, did I just mention "new phone"? hahaha..ok, I'll blog about my new phone next.

Yin Jin's Wedding @ 11/18/2007

Attended another wedding dinner of my ex-schoolmates on the day after Ah Long's wedding. This time, the bride & the bridegroom were both my ex-classmates. The hall was nicely decorated, with beige and orange roses, and litted candlelights. Even the slideshow was tastefully done. Oh, of course the couple looked radiant!

Ah Long's Wedding @ 17/11/2007

It isn't everyday you get to see Ah Long dressed up in nice suit, and his hair neatly combed :P It was such a pretty sight to see Joey and Ah Long holding hand in hand, giving toast to the guests, and playing host to their own wedding party!

Though it a vegetarian lunch, I must say the food is awesome! Even the food presentation is interesting. We're trying to guess what each plate of food was made from (e.g mushroom, taufu, beans etc..) What creative chefs they have.
